A man was the victim of an assault and robbery in the Fox Point section of Providence.

According to police, officers responded to Tockwotten Street at South Main shortly after 3 AM on Saturday for a report of a robbery.

The victim - a male in his 30s - said he had been with a friend in a vehicle when they were approached by a group of individuals.

He told police someone opened the car door and began assaulting him.

One of the suspects reportedly took jewelry from him, including necklaces and a bracelet.

Police say the victim had visible bruising to his face.
