Stabbing Reported at Homeless Tent Encampment in Providence, Police Investigating

Providence police are investigating a report of a stabbing at a homeless tent encampment in the city. 

About Incident

Shortly after 6 PM on Thursday, police responded to a report of a stabbing at the tent encampment at Wilson and Fuller Streets.

According to police, they encountered a woman with a laceration to her left shoulder.

Police say they spoke with a witness, who said the woman stabbed had come to the encampment bearing knives, and proceeded to cut a male who refused to let her in. 

The witness said the male pushed the woman in self-defense, and she in turn cut herself when she fell back. 

The man reportedly fled the scene. 

Police are currently investigating.
