Two People Stabbed in Providence - Police Investigating

It was another night of violence in Providence.

 

Providence Police are investigating two separate stabbings in the city that occurred within hours of each other.

One incident reportedly occurred off of Cranston Street; the other off Atwells Avenue.

 

About Stabbings

 

Shortly after 6 PM on Friday, police said they were alerted to a stabbing at the 500 block of Cranston Street.

 

Police said the victim - a male in his 50s - had a laceration to his arm.

 

Witnesses told police they saw the assault and that the suspect fled the area.

 

Then, at approximately 11:30 PM on Friday night, police were called to Barstow Street for a report of an assault.

 

Police were informed that a stabbing victim - a 19-year-old male - had been taken to Roger Williams Hospital for his injuries; he was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

 

According to police, a suspect at the scene, who was reportedly in possession of a knife, was apprehended and taken into custody.

 

Detectives are currently investigating both incidents.
