Gomes, Burke Lead 2016 PC Hall of Fame Class

Former PC basketball star Ryan Gomes and men's hockey captain Brian Burke are among the inductees into the Providence College Athletics Hall of Fame. The reception and dinner will take place on February 13th at The Biltmore Hotel beginning at 6 p.m. with cocktails and dinner at 7 p.m.

The inductees will also be honored at halftime of the men's basketball game against Georgetown earlier that day at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Game time is set for 12 p.m.

Ryan Gomes graduated Providence in 2005 as the all-time leading scorer with 2,138 points and currently ranks seventh all-time in rebounding with 1,028 boards.

Gomes is one of two players (LaDontae Henton) in program history to score over 2,000 points and pull down over 1,000 rebounds

Gomes was drafted but he Boston Celtics and went on to play eight seasons in the NBA with Boston, Minnesota, L.A. Clippers and Oklahoma City.

Brian Burke

Brian Burke
Brian Burke graduated Providence in 1977 after playing four seasons and over 100 games for PC Hockey. Burke served as the team captain in his senior season.

Burke is currently the President of Hockey Operations for the Calgary Flames. Prior to Calgary, Burke served as the general manager and president of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the general manager of the 2010 United States Olympic team that won a Silver Medal.

Burke won a Stanley Cup as general manager of the Anaheim Ducks in 2006-2007.

Other 2016 Inductees include Laurie Baker ‘00 (women’s hockey), Mike Donnelly ‘97 (men’s cross country/track), Martin Hayes ‘85 (men’s soccer), Amy Kvilhaug ‘96 (softball), Nadine Malcolm ‘97 (women’s basketball), John McDonald ‘10 (baseball), Roisin McGettigan ‘03 (women’s cross country/track), Jed Michnowicz ‘99 (men’s swimming/diving), Brian O’Rorke ‘04 (men’s lacrosse), Tom Palamara ‘80 (women’s hockey), Chad Quenneville ‘95 (men’s hockey), Kim Smith ‘05 (women’s cross country/track) and Cami White ‘91 (field hockey).
