In a Pitino Like Rant, PC's Cooley Says Stop Talking About Dunn and Bentil
Cooley says its time to move onIn a Rick Pitino like rant, Providence College head coach Ed Cooley is urging fans and media alike to stop talking about Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil.
“Everybody continues to talk about Ben and Kris and truthfully we forgot about them when they left. We miss them, we love them, but it’s a different time. You go back and a lot of players still talk about Ernie D and Marvin Barnes, you know, it’s a different time, I enjoy this team,” said Cooley when asked about the Friars exceeding expectations following a 79-59 win over Maine.
When a frustrated Celtics President and Head Coach Rick Pitino was frustrated after a lost he launched into a rant against reporters, “Larry Bird’s not walking through that door, fans. Kevin McHale is not walking through that door, and Robert Parish is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through the door, they’re going to be grey and old. What we are is young, exciting, hard-working, and going to improve. People don’t realize that.”
The Friars are 10-2 on the season and are winners of six straight games, including an upset win over #21 Rhode Island in early December at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. PC has been led by Rodney Bullock, who averages 19 points per game and Kyron Cartwright who ranks fourth in the country in assists, averaging eight per game.
PC will hit the road for three games starting on Friday, December 23 when they visit Boston College, before Big East play begins on December 28 at Xavier and continues January 1 against Butler.
Tip-off for the game against Boston College is set for 4 p.m.
