Red Sox Fall to 1st Place Houston 7-1

Rick Porcello gives up 7 runs in 6 innings
Rick Porcello’s struggles continued on Saturday night as the Boston Red Sox fell 7-1 to the first place Houston Astros. 

Porcello, gave up seven runs on 10 hits in six innings of action en route to his fourth straight loss. It is his second four game losing streak of the season. 

He has also allowed five or more runs in three straight games.

The Red Sox drop to 38-30 on the season. 

Houston in Control From Start 

The Astros jumped on Porcello in the first inning. 

Jose Altuve hit an RBI double and then Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran each had sacrifice flies to give Houston a 3-0 lead in the inning. 

After a scoreless second inning, the Astros added three more runs in the third. 

Altus hit a solo home run to start things off before Beltran followed three batters later with a two-run home run to give Houston a 6-0 lead. 

Boston’s Chris Young hit a solo home run in the fifth to get the Red Sox on the board, but Houston would add another run in the sixth and cruise to a 7-1 win. 

Series Concludes 

The Red Sox and Astros conclude their series on Sunday Night Baseball. 

The pitching matchup is Boston’s David Price against Houston’s Joe Musgrove. 

First pitch is set for 8 p.m.
