Police Respond to Daytime Stabbing by Cranston Street Armory in Providence

Police responded to a stabbing by the Cranston Street Armory on Wednesday afternoon. 

About Incident 

Shortly before 3 PM, police were dispatched to 106 Dexter Street for the report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival several witnesses flagged police down for a man who was stabbed in the chest and bleeding heavily.

Providence Rescue transported the victim to Rhode Island Hospital.

A witness on scene told police that two men were arguing with one another and they began to fight in the middle of the street, when one took out a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.

According to witnesses, the assailant fled the scene on a bicycle prior to police arrival.

Police said the victim was stabilized at the emergency room at Rhode Island Hospital and was alert and responsive after his arrival.
