Brown Earns Second Straight Win, Beat Penn 75-69

The Brown Bears men's basketball team (13-15, 4-7 Ivy) defeated (7-17, 2-8 Ivy) Penn, 75-69 on Friday night at the Pizzitola Center. The Bears have now won two straight games in Ivy league play and pull to within two games of the .500 mark on the season.

The Brown Bears got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 17-5 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Brown went into halftime with a 41-28 halftime lead over Penn.

Penn made a run in the second half, getting as close as five points, 63-58, with four minutes left to play.However, back to back three pointers by Tavon Blackmon and J.R. Hobbie extended the Bears lead to 69-61 with 2:50 left to go. 

Penn would get back to within six points but no closer. Brown hangs on for the 75-69 win.

The Bears were led by J.R. Hobbie, who netted  21 points while Tavon Blackmon followed up with 16 of his own. 

Penn was led by Tony Hicks who poured in a game high 23 points off the bench. 

The Brown Bears return to action on Saturday, February 28 when they host Princeton in the final home game of the season. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
