Benintendi's 2-Run Single Lifts Red Sox Over Texas 7-5 in 11 Innings

Andrew Benintendi hit a two run single in the 11th inning to lift the Boston Red Sox over the Texas Rangers 7-5 on Monday night in Texas. 

Boston is now 7-1 in extra innings on the season. 

The win improves the Red Sox to 48-35 on the season and have won five straight games.

During the winning streak, Boston is averaging 8.4 runs per game and are carrying a team ERA of 2.57. 

Benintendi’s Heroics Lift Red Sox to Win 

With the bases loaded and one out, Benintendi hit a bloop single that barely made the outfield just behind the shortstop position to score two runs and give the Red Sox a 7-5 lead. 

Boston needed Benintendi’s heroics after closer Craig Kimbrel blew a save in the 9th inning. 

In the 9th, the Red Sox were up 5-4 before former Red Sox Mike Napoli hit a first pitch home run off Kimbrel to tie the game at 5. 

The Red Sox had a 5-1 lead earlier in the game.

The Red Sox and Rangers continue their series on Tuesday, July 4 at 8 p.m. 

The pitching matchup is Boston’s David Price against Texas’ Yu Darvish.
