Betts' 8 RBIs Helps Red Sox Cruise to 15-1 Win Over Blue Jays

Mookie Betts had 8 RBIs in the game to lead Red Sox to win
Mookie Betts matched a career-high with eight RBIs, while also hitting two home runs as the Boston Red Sox routed the Toronto Blue Jays 15-1 on Sunday in Toronto.

This was the second multi home run game of the season for Betts, who also hit two at Philadelphia on June 14. This was also the second career eight RBI game for Betts, who had eight RBIs against Arizona in August of 2016.

The Red Sox improve to 47-35 on the season and have a three game lead in the AL East.

Betts Takes Over

With the Red Sox up 2-1 in the fourth inning, Betts hit a three-run home run to center field on a 2-0 to put Boston up 5-1 in the game.

The Red Sox would be up 5-1 in the sixth when Betts would strike again, this time hitting a two run home run to put Boston up 7-1 in the game.

Still leading 7-1-1, the Red Sox offense exploded for 8 runs in the seventh inning, including a two run single by Betts.

Hanley Ramirez hit a two run home run in the inning and Andrew Benintendi connected on an RBI double to left field and would later score on a Dustin Pedroia ground rule double.

Pomeranz on Mound

Drew Pomeranz threw six innings and allowed one run to pick up his third straight road win of the season. Since May 9 at Milwaukee, he has not lost a road game

Next up

The Red Sox return to a action on Monday, July 3 when they visit the Texas Rangers. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Rick Porcello against Texas’ Martin Perez.
