Red Sox Fall to Texas 8-2 in Series Finale

Pitcher Doug Fister gave up six runs, four earned, in 3 2/3 innings pitched and the Boston Red Sox never recovered as they fell 8-2 to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Red Sox drop to 49-36 on the season.

Following a 90 minute delay to start the game, Texas’ Rougned Odor hit a two run home run in the second inning to give Boston a 2-0 lead.

Carlos Gomez would add a solo home run in the 3rd to give Texas a 3-0 lead.

Texas would break the game open in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs in th e inning to take 6-0 lead.

The three runs were capped off by an RBI single to Carlos Gomez to score Profar. The hit would chase Fister from the game.

Texas would add two runs in the fifth and go on to win 8-2.

The Red Sox return to action Thursday, July 6 when they visit AL East rival Tampa Gay at 7 p.m.

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Chris Sale against Tampa’s Jake Faria.
