Red Sox Manage Only 4 Hits in 3-1 Loss to Yankees

Aaron Judge hits a two run home run to beat Red Sox
In the first meeting of the season, the Boston Red Sox fell 3-1 to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park on Wednesday night. 

The Red Sox drop to 11-9 on the season.

The Boston Red Sox only managed three hits and off of New York Yankees pitcher Luis Severino on Wednesday night. 

Boston’s one run came in the 9th inning off of Aroldis Chapman when they trailed 3-0.

Severino finished the night with six strikeouts in seven innings pitched for his second win of the season. 

New York took the lead when star Aaron Judge hit a two run home run into he Yankees’ bullpen in the second inning to give New York a 2-0 advantage. 

The Yankees would add another run in the 6th inning to go up 3-0 in the game. 

New York has now won 11 of their last 14 games after starting the season 1-4. 

For the Red Sox, reigning AL Cy Young winner Rick Porcello picks up the loss for the third straight time, giving up three runs in 6 2/3 innings. He did not lose consecutive starts last season. 

Series Concludes 

The Red Sox and Yankees will finish their series on Thursday night at Fenway Park with first pitch set for 7 p.m. 

The pitching matchup will see Chris Sale on the mound for the Red Sox against Masahiro Tanaka for the Yankees.
