Michael Sepe: 16 to Watch in 2016 in RI

Michael Sepe
2016 is election year for Mayor of Cranston —  and Michael Sepe, Chairman of the Cranston Democratic City Committee, is in the mix to vie for the city’s top spot, currently held by Mayor and former Republican gubernatorial candidate Allan Fung.  Sepe ran for the post before in 1994, losing to Republican Michael Traficante, and had just over $25,000 as of the last reporting period at the end of September from a personal loan.

The X factor of course is Fung, who was first elected to the post in 2008. Fung, who lost the Governor’s race last year to Gina Raimondo with 36% of the vote to her 40.7%, had a tumultuous 2015 with the release of the State Police report following an investigation into the Cranston police department.

Fung’s coffers were only slightly larger than Sepe’s self-lined war chest at the end of the last reporting period, with just over $26,000 cash on hand.  Keep an eye on the money game — and the blame game, is it pertains to the Cranston police — as Sepe makes a move to be Cranston’s next Mayor in 2016.
