PC's Dunn Named Top 20 Finalist for Wooden Award

Providence guard Kris Dunn has been named a top 20 finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, an honor even annually too the best college basketball player in the country while maintaining a 2.0 GPA.

Dunn has averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game this season for the Friars and is the only Big East player to make the top 20.

Dunn averages three steals per game which is good for second best in the country and leads the Big East with 6.7 assists per game and is ninth in the country in that category.

The Friars are currently 18-7 overall and 6-6 in the Big East, having lost three straight and four of their last five.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, February 13 when they host Georgetown at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Tip off is set for noon.

The John R. Wooden Award

The Wooden Award was created in 1976 and is considered the most prestigious individual honor in college basketball.

Previous winners of the award include Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan and Kevin Durant.

The list of players will be cut down to 15, before the awards are presented during the weekend of April 7-9, 206.
