Friars this Season
The Friars went 23-10 overall and 10-8 in the Big East conference but enter the tournament after going 6-6 in their last 12 games.
PC beat Butler in the first round of the Big East tournament before falling to Villanova in the semifinal round on Friday night.
Tournament History
This will be PC's 18th appearance in the NCAA tournament where they carry an overall record of 14-18 in those games.
Big East Teams in the Tournament
Providence is one of 5 Big East teams in the NCAA Tournament this season. The other teams and their seeds are as follows:
Villanova - Nova was slotted for a number one seed before they fell to Seton Hall in the Big East Championship on Saturday night. Now as a 2 seed in the South Region, Nova will now host UNC Asheville in the first round with a chance for an all Philadelphia show down in the second round if they meet up with Temple.
Xavier - The Musketeers also get a 2 seed in the tournament and will play Weber St. in the first round in the East Region.
Seton Hall - The Big East Champion Seton Hall Pirates enter the tournament as a 6 seed in the Midwest Region. The Pirates will face Gonzaga in the first round with a chance to play either Utah or Fresno state in the second round.
Butler - The Bulldogs get in the NCAA Tournament as a 9 seed in the Midwest Region, the same as PC. This may be the only thing Friar fans have an issue with as the Friars beat Butler three times this season and have a lower RPI, yet are seeded the same. Butler will face Texas Tech in the first round with the winner likely facing Virginia in the second.
Number 1 Seeds
The number one seeds in this year's tournament are North Carolina out of the ACC, Virginia out of the ACC, Oregon out of the PAC-12 and Kansas out of the Big 12 Conference.
