PC's Dunn & Bentil Named to All-Big East First Team

Providence College basketball stars Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil have been named to the All-Big East First Team, the conference announced on Sunday. 

This marks the second straight season in which PC has had two players on the first team after Dunn and LaDontae Henton did it last season.

Sophomore Ben Bentil leads the Big East in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per game on the season and 22.9 points per game in conference play. He is the seventh Friar all-time to lead the league in scoring and the fourth Friar in the last six years to do it. 

Bentil also ranks 5th in the Big East in rebounding with 7.8 rebounds per game and scored at least 20 pints in 19 of the 31 games this season. 

Bentil has established Friar sophomore records for points scored with 657, free throws made with 184, and free throws attempted with 232. 

The 657 points scored this season ranks 13th best all-time at PC.

Kris Dunn was the 2015-16 Big East preseason Player of the Year and joins Bryce Cotton and Ryan Gomes as the only Friars to earn two All-Big East First Team honors. 

Dunn leads the league in steals with 2.7 per game and is second in the league in assists with 6.4 per game while ranking 4th in scoring, 16.3 points per game. 

Dunn is the first Friar ever to register 1,000 points, 500 assists, 400 rebounds and 200 steals. 

Dunn is also a candidate for the Oscar Robertson Award, Wooden Award, Naismith Award, Bob Cousy Award and the NABC Defensive Player of the Year Award. 

Tournament Time 

Providence finished the season with a record of 22-9 overall and 10-8 in the Big East. 

PC holds the 4th seed and will play Butler in the first round of the Big East tournament set to take place this week in New York. 

Tip off for the PC game is set for 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10
